THE POWER OF QUESTIONS

Waking
up to the cracking of lizards and bleating of goats;
The
fragrance that comes from the burning of firewood stands;
The
sweet music from the whistling of birds filling the entire helmet;
The
crowing of the cockerels brings awaking to the sleeping beings;
Bringing
forth the jungle spirits from the ancestral world;
Brushing
our teeth with curved fire woods and shaving our heads with broken bottles.
Sinusoidally,
we journey. Gracing our activities; same up, same down;
Few
or particular change are not easily noticed from birth day to departure date;
Sheepishly,
we follow the traditions like it seems our daily guide;
Wouldn’t
mind if our children go through scourging pain just to cure a minor ailment;
How
we sacrifice our animals to unseen deities;
Marrying
more wives. Just to procreate more spawns to build our bridges.
Do
we know whom origin we really are?
What
heritage and culture we really stand for? What spirit and lineage we really
sprouted from?
What
orchestrates our existence and the power that lies in our minds?
What
things we are capable of doing?
What
length we can go just to get a job done?
Just
then, a glimpse of hope comes in washing out all the dark spots;
A
spark of sunlight sets into the caved abode;
Like
a realm of glowing illusion calling out to Africa.
Many
reject it, some call it abomination, others thought it to be anti-tradition;
Only
a few that were left to take the risk of the new dawn as the dibia said;
It
entered into the minds of a few of us to dare to ask “WHY”;
The
few who saw the impact were transformed;
Remodifying
the dark caved wall into a diadem;
Bringing
light into a prime state of reasoning;
Exposing
the secrets of the African culture and beautiful heritage;
Teaching
us that there is power in just a little spark of imagination;
Bringing
hearts into one and reconciling the kindred with their future;
Telling
men that we can see beyond the sky.
Little
did we know that we are powerful beyond our imagination;
That
our limits are boundless, beyond the vast natural resources;
That
our curse can be turned into a technology of invention;
We
have the spirit of Africa, and that’s all we need to keep us from the dark.
